Summary

Within days of wishing she could change her life, Fran Cooper is leaving rainy England to become acting assistant to a famous singer, on a yacht in the Mediterranean。 Their destination is a tiny Italian island that’s hosting the biggest celebrity gala of the season—the Crystal Ball。

And while not everything about her new role goes precisely to plan, when she – quite literally – bumps into tall, dark and handsome Evan, a man able to keep his cool in the face of chaos, the magic really begins。

Evan makes her a promise: no last names, no life stories, just one unforgettable night。 Wearing a designer dress and drinking champagne, Fran is soon a million miles away from life back in the UK。

And that’s the problem: Evan belongs at the Crystal Ball and Fran is a gatecrasher。 They may be soulmates, but their homes are an ocean apart, their lives a world apart。 They’ll never meet again – unless, on a night like this, everything can change forever…

So this book was actually good and had an amazing concept, but nothing really happened with the characters。 I feel like it focussed more on Juliette and Fran more than Fran and Evan。 I would love to see more development between them。

Sometimes it's thrilling to crack open a book without fully knowing what's going to happen and being utterly surprised。 This was the case for this e-arc from NetGalley。 I thought it was an unusual spin that loosely used Cinderella elements。 Heroine's narration was charming。 Kelk is a new author to me and I'm glad to see she's written other books that I can explore。 Sometimes it's thrilling to crack open a book without fully knowing what's going to happen and being utterly surprised。 This was the case for this e-arc from NetGalley。 I thought it was an unusual spin that loosely used Cinderella elements。 Heroine's narration was charming。 Kelk is a new author to me and I'm glad to see she's written other books that I can explore。 。。。more

Laugh out loud I enjoyed this book so much and haven't laughed out while reading a book in quite some time。 Fran is a down to earth kind of gal and I found myself rooting for her and hoping she finds her happiness。 I couldn't put it down, was a nice break from reality! This was such a fun, glamorous, messy, heart-felt book!! I really loved Fran and her self-exploration, as well as Juliette and how everything transpired with her。 It was so fun to read about the celebs and Fran’s encounters。 I wish we could’ve gotten a bit more depth with Fran’s relationships, but otherwise this was a lovely romance!!

Re-tellings of Cinderella need to get better。

Unfortunately it took me many tries to finish this book and when I did, I admit it was more of a skim read。 With it’s modern day retelling of Cinderella, I was expecting a bit more romance but instead the first 60% of the book felt disorganized and unimportant。 The characters lacked depth and were hard to connect with。 Overall, I feel like this book falls very flat。 Unfortunately, as my first book read by this author, I won’t be picking up another by Lindsey Kelk anytime soon。

Easy 3/5 easy chapters。 Medium length。 Lots of stopping points。 Breezy 4/5 no high tension points that were real heavy。 Cheesy 1/5 very low cheese factor which was refreshing。 Original and yet believably unbelievable。 Sleazy 0/5 and surprisingly not missed!! This book was witty hilarious refreshing relatable pg and yet totally 100% enjoyable to me。 Really enjoyed it。 All I felt I am missing is a happily ever after。 Made me LOL severalTimes。 So cute, empowering and fairytale all at once。

This books was so utterly forgettable that I couldn’t even remember the name to review it。 No heat, flat characters, at best it was “cute” in a throwaway way。 A dry British Cinderella story with a spoiled lonely pop star, a neurotic heroine who ruins fun, her fiancé who reminds me of Egger from MIB and a mysterious dude in a tux who keeps showed up at the wrong time but keeps showing up at the exact right time。 There could have been so much more。

I love Lindsey Kelk books。 I raced through this book。 It’s funny, fast paced, romantic with a strong female lead。 Enjoyed the characters self deprecating wit! Good fun with a dreamy American to top it off。Thanks to NetGalley for the preview。

This was a fun and light read! This is a perfect feel good story for anyone who is feeling stuck in a relationship and trying to figure themselves out。 Fran is just floating along in her life until she gets the opportunity to be an assistant to pop star Juliette which gives her life the shock it needs。

A heartwarming and completely unrealistic romantic comedy with a fairy tale vibe。 Fran's life has become increasingly smaller as she's given up the work she loves (executive assistant) to fit herself into the life her fiancé wants her to have。 Frankly, I felt irritated with her doormat personality right from the start, and was very happy when she finally took steps to open her life back up。 Even if said steps started with a ridiculous job as temporary assistant to a moody, childish pop star on a A heartwarming and completely unrealistic romantic comedy with a fairy tale vibe。 Fran's life has become increasingly smaller as she's given up the work she loves (executive assistant) to fit herself into the life her fiancé wants her to have。 Frankly, I felt irritated with her doormat personality right from the start, and was very happy when she finally took steps to open her life back up。 Even if said steps started with a ridiculous job as temporary assistant to a moody, childish pop star on a luxury yacht。 Through a series of preposterous misadventures, Fran ends up, much like Cinderella, at a highly exclusive, chi-chi ball and meets her very own Prince Charming in a painful case of InstaLove。 Kelk does the right thing and has Fran fess up right away to her engaged status, and said Prince Charming is such a great guy that he holds back from making any kind of romantic move as a result。 Not a fan of InstaLove, and we didn't really get much relationship development between them to believe that they had a shot at making it in the real world。 But hey, it's a fun escapist fairy tale。 。。。more

Books like these are just some nice buffer material。 I go into these with no strings attached and come out no better and no worse off。 I've actually not read a modern adaptation of the Cinderella trope so I was surprised to find out I didn't mind it as much here。 The romance felt a little insta-love and a bit shallow, but I can't really blame that on the author when it's based on Cinderella, can I? On a Night Like This is another great story from Lindsey Kelk。 Fran is a thirty-two year old woman who is just kind of going through life, unhappy in her relationship and unfulfilled with the temp jobs that only barely take up her time。 Suddenly, she is offered the opportunity of a lifetime, being the personal assistant to a popstar, and decides to finally do something for herself and take the job。 Being an assistant to a celebrity doesn't exactly turn out how Fran thought it would, and that pro On a Night Like This is another great story from Lindsey Kelk。 Fran is a thirty-two year old woman who is just kind of going through life, unhappy in her relationship and unfulfilled with the temp jobs that only barely take up her time。 Suddenly, she is offered the opportunity of a lifetime, being the personal assistant to a popstar, and decides to finally do something for herself and take the job。 Being an assistant to a celebrity doesn't exactly turn out how Fran thought it would, and that provides some great twists and turns throughout the novel。Fran is incredibly relatable。 After the last two years, it's safe to say that people may feel a little adrift in life, and that is what the main character seems to be dealing with throughout the novel。 Fran is trying to figure out what she wants out of life and whether or not what she already has is good enough。 There are also some excellent side characters she meets on her journey of self-discovery, and the romantic lead is definitely swoon worthy, but Fran is the main focus throughout and that is what makes this such an excellent read。While the romantic aspect of the novel was somewhat limited in the grand scope of the book, it was still such a great part and Evan is a wonderful character。 The interactions between Fran and the popstar Juliette were definite highlights of the story and the whole book had me laughing out loud on many occasions。 The humor in this book is fantastically witty and contributed greatly to my overall enjoyment of it。 I recommend this book to readers of women's fiction and romance。I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more

Thanks to the author/publisher for the goodreads giveaway! What a cute, enjoyable read! This was just enough romance to be an adorable love story without being too overly predictable or so focused on love that I miss the plot。 Fun and flirty, my only regret with this one was that I didn’t read it later in the month (closer to Valentine’s Day!)
